Welcome to Troofo! Your privacy is important to us, and we are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how Troofo ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and safeguards information when you use our iPhone application.

2. Information We Collect

We designed Troofo with user privacy as a top priority. The app does not collect or store personally identifiable information (PII). Specifically:

  • No Email, Name, or Account Data: Troofo does not require account creation, email input, or any form of personally identifiable information.
  • No Personalized Data Leaves Your Device: While Troofo integrates with Apple HealthKit to provide personalized food analysis, no personalized data leaves your device.
  • Product Data Processing: When scanning a product barcode, Troofo sends the product details (e.g., barcode, ingredients, nutritional facts) to an external server for analysis. This data is fully anonymized and not linked to any user.
  • Caching & Storage: Anonymized product analyses may be cached locally on your device for performance purposes.

3. Availability & Jurisdiction

Troofo is only available for users within the United States. The app is distributed exclusively through the U.S. App Store and is not intended for use outside the U.S. If you are located outside of the United States, you should not download or use the App.

4. How We Use Information

Any data processed within Troofo is used strictly to enhance the app's core functionality, including:

  • Providing ingredient analysis and nutritional breakdown.
  • Generating anonymized food recommendations based on HealthKit data (if the user enables it).
  • Improving the accuracy of our scoring system.

5. Third-Party Integrations

  • HealthKit (Optional): If you grant permission, Troofo can read HealthKit data (such as dietary preferences, allergies, and nutritional goals) to personalize your product analysis.
    • We do not share, sell, or transfer yoany personally identifiable data or HealthKit data to any external party.
  • External Servers for Analysis: When analyzing a product, Troofo sends the product's nutritional information (without any personalized data) to our cloud-based AI for processing. This does not include any personalized data and or any personally identifiable information. After processing, we do not store this data. Caching is happening locally on the device.

6. Data Security

  • All processing is performed on-device whenever possible.
  • Data sent for external processing is fully anonymized and stripped of personal context.
  • The app does not use third-party analytics or tracking tools that monitor user behavior.
  • All communications between the app and external servers are encrypted using industry-standard protocols.

7. User Control & Data Deletion

As Troofo does not store personal data:

  • There is no user account to delete.
  • HealthKit permissions can be revoked at any time through Apple's Health settings.
  • Cached data on the device can be cleared through the app settings.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as necessary to reflect changes in our app. Updates will be posted within the app.
